The next “Heidelberg Talks Online” meeting (in English!) takes place on Friday, March 15, 2024, 7 pm – 8.30 pm CET. The topic will be:


The fascination of exploding stars


The speaker will be Dr. Robert Fisher, full professor of physics at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Dartmouth. Prior to his arrival in Massachusetts, Prof. Fisher was a research scientist and group leader at the University of Chicago and a postdoctoral research fellow at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He earned his PhD in physics at the University of California at Berkeley with the support of a NASA Graduate Student Fellowship, and his B.S. in Physics with Honors from Caltech. He has also held visiting faculty positions at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton, New Jersey, the Center for Astrophysics at Harvard-Smithsonian, and the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of California Santa Barbara. As a DAAD scholarship holder, Prof. Fisher is currently a visiting faculty member at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS).
